The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Merz Aesthetics' Belotero Balance dermal filler to correct moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and nasolabial folds (NLFs).
Belotero Balance is a hyaluronic acid-based cohesive gel dermal filler designed to deliver natural-looking results with little recovery time.
Belotero dermal filler is approved based on the results from an active-controlled, double-blind multicenter, randomized study enrolling 118 patients.
The results showed greater reduction in the mean change of the wrinkle severity scale (WSRS) at all-time points and maintained more than 1 point WSRS reduction at week 24 (compared to 0.5 for the control).
