Diagnostic imaging equipment provider Hitachi Medical Systems America (HMSA) has obtained approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Supria 16-slice CT system.
Featuring a compact design, the new system is claimed to offer smart-dose compliant (XR-29) lower dose patient safety capabilities.
The system integrates the latest dose saving technologies in a compact design with improved patient access features to address a wide range of patient sizes, including bariatric patients.
According to the firm, the Supria 16-slice CT system can be placed in a scan room as small as 200ft².
Hitachi Medical Systems America CT marketing director Mark Silverman said: "Supria demonstrates Hitachi’s continuing commitment to provide superior product value by combining the latest imaging technologies in a design that while compact, still affords the premium patient accommodation features of more expensive systems including a 75cm gantry aperture, standard 1.8m scannable range table with 500lb weight capacity."
HMSA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi Medical, which provides a wide range of diagnostic imaging equipment including MRI, CT and ultrasound.
In March this year, Hitachi Medical Systems Europe introduced new open high-field 1.2T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), OASIS, at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) Annual Meeting in Vienna, Austria.
