The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Cordis' Empira and Empira NC RX PTCA Dilatation Catheters to treat coronary artery disease.

The semi-compliant Empira RX PTCA Pre-Dilatation Catheter and the non-compliant Empira NC RX PTCA Post-Dilatation Catheter uses next generation Duralyn Flex balloon material which aids cardiologists to perform narrowed coronary arteries procedures.

Cordis CSO, R&D Global Head Campbell Rogers said they believe the design of the Empira Balloon Catheters will meet physicians’ needs and has the potential to improve patient outcomes.
