Cantel Medical has secured 510 (k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Advantage Plus Pass-Thru automated endoscope reprocessor (AER).
The device is said to be clinically proved as a high-level disinfect for commonly used endoscopes such as duodenoscopes.
The AER uses an advanced pass-through design that facilitates one-way workflow and delivers better quality by reducing the risk of human error, distraction and unintended lapses in cleaning protocols.
The hard-wall separation between dirty and clean reprocessing areas will help to avoid recontamination of reprocessed endoscopes, enabling to provide safe and patient-ready endoscopes for every procedure.
An advanced pass-through capability and integrated smart technology of the AER will allow to offer quick and efficient turnover.
With hands-free operation, the disinfection system enables to reprocess four to five in just over one hour.
According to Cantel Medical, the Advantage Plus Pass-Thru AER has been validated for use with Cantel's proprietary Rapicide PA disinfectant.
