The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted a 510(k) approval to Canon's TX-20 Full Auto Tonometer.

The lightweight TX-20 Tonometer uses soft air puffs to measure Intraocular Pressure (IOP) which aids doctors to perform simple eye exams and also evaluate ocular conditions that affect the pressure inside of an eye, such as glaucoma.

The TX-20 Tonometer is a one-touch operation, when it is in Full Auto mode the unit automatically aligns and measures the IOP of both eyes.

The TX-20 Tonometer comfortably fits on an instrument table with a Canon Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera.

Canon Medical Systems Division senior director and GM Tsuneo Imai said they are excited to bring the new TX-20 Tonometer to the forefront of the US market to help health care professionals diagnose and monitor eye disorders, such as glaucoma.
