Exactech, a developer and producer of innovative implants, instrumentation, and smart technologies for joint replacement surgery, announced first cases with the TriVerse™ primary knee system, an evidence-based, streamlined solution that is designed to address the ever-increasing demands of today’s active knee replacement patients.

Orthopaedic surgeons Chris Christensen, M.D., of Bluegrass Orthopaedics in Lexington, Ky., and David Taunton, Jr., M.D., of Texas Orthopedic Specialists in Bedford, Texas, were the first to perform TriVerse knee surgeries.

“As a high-volume surgeon in the hospital and surgery center settings, efficiency and flexibility are of paramount importance to me and my O.R. staff,” said Dr. Christensen. “Exactech’s TriVerse Knee system has been designed with a streamlined, simplified approach while offering a comprehensive array of primary knee implants that give me the best of both worlds.”

Dr. Taunton added, “The TriVerse design leans on the successful clinical heritage of previous knee systems, providing surgeons with familiar efficiency and patients with a successful clinical design. The simplicity and intraoperative flexibility of Exactech’s new knee system facilitates the same-day surgery that my patients desire and provides a modern implant construct that meets the needs of their active lifestyles.”

The TriVerse primary knee system features anterior stabilized and posterior stabilized constructs and is exclusively available with highly crosslinked vitamin E polyethylene. TriVerse implants will launch alongside a full-featured set of mechanical instruments designed to provide the efficiency required in same-day surgical environments.

“For more than three decades, Exactech has continued to push forward total knee replacement innovations that are built on time-tested results,” said Adam Hayden, CMO and SVP, Large Joints Business Unit at Exactech. “TriVerse adds to the company’s advanced portfolio of knee solutions, including the award-winning Truliant® primary and revision systems and integrated Newton® ligament balancing platform, providing yet another tried-and-true system that helps address the challenging health landscape.”
