ev3 Inc. (ev3) has appointed Shawn McCormick as senior vice president (SVP) and chief financial officer (CFO) of the company, effective January 19, 2008. McCormick replaces Patrick Spangler, who resigned as SVP and CFO, effective January 19, 2009. McCormick brings over 15 years of medical device experience to ev3. Most recently, he served as vice president, corporate development at Medtronic, Inc. where he was responsible for leading Medtronic's worldwide business development activities.

McCormick comes to Medtronic in July 1992 and held various finance roles during his tenure. From May 2008 to January 2009, he worked as vice president, corporate development of Medtronic, Inc. From July 2007 to May 2008, he worked as vice president, corporate technology and new ventures of Medtronic. From July 2002 to July 2007, he was vice president, finance for Medtronic’s Spinal, Biologics and Navigation business. Before that, he held various other roles with Medtronic, including corporate development director, principal corporate development associate, manager, financial analysis, senior financial analyst and senior auditor. Before joining Medtronic, he spent almost 4 years with the public accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick. McCormick earned his M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota’sCarlson School of Management and his B.S. in Accounting from Arizona State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
