Eurotech, a supplier of embedded technologies, products and systems, has won $1.2m contract to supply embedded computers to a medical original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that specialises in blood management and cardiopulmonary devices.

The two-year contract expects to allow the customer to meet market demand for blood diagnostic equipment with the Eurotech TurboXb computer on module.

The customer chose Eurotech to extend the lifecycle of some of their perfusion management devices using the ARM technology on the TurboXb. The devices perform blood diagnostics and clot detection within operating rooms, and include data storage and retrieval capabilities, so results are available for analysis at a later date.

The TurboXb computer on module is the processor module for a full-featured embedded computing system. Based on the Marvell PXA270M RISC-based processor, TurboXb CoM provides the processing capabilities for a high performance system with very low power consumption in a small form factor.

It features rich graphics to SVGA with interfaces to 10/100baseT Ethernet, USB host, serial ports and analog inputs.

Greg Nicoloso, CEO of Eurotech, said: “Leading customers renew their reliance on Eurotech’s embedded technologies for their mission-critical solutions. We are committed to supporting our customers in tough application fields like the medical space, throughout the lifecycle of their products, so that they can extend the revenue-generating lifetime of their devices by staying with Eurotech.”
