EndoGastric Solutions (EGS), a provider in the field of Natural Orifice Surgery (NOS), has reported that 5,000 NOS procedures have been completed worldwide using the company’s EsophyX and StomaphyX devices.
EsophyX and StomaphyX are the NOS surgical devices designed specially for performing incisionless reconstructive gastrointestinal procedures and are introduced into the body through the mouth, rather than through an abdominal incision.
The Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF) procedure, performed with the EsophyX device, creates an esophagogastric fundoplication to form an antireflux barrier and the StomaphyX device enables surgeons to create large, full-thickness tissue folds in the GI tract, the company said.
