Endocare, Inc. (Endocare), an Irvine-based medical device company providing minimally invasive technologies for tissue and tumor ablation, has given layoff notices to 98 workers, according to a filing with the state Employment Development Department, OC Register reported. The layoff was effective July 31, 2009.

On July 27 2009, Endocare was purchased by HealthTronics, Inc., a manufacturer of urological services and products, for a purchase consideration of approximately $16 million or $1.35 per share.
