Encision, a developer of surgical devices, has appointed Fred Perner as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Perner has experience in healthcare, including sales and marketing in electrosurgery and endoscopy technologies.

He worked at Association of periOperative Registered Nurses’ (AORN) as a vice president for Segments and Business Development.

From 2006 to 2008, he served as Global Education leader and Solution leader at GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric company.

Perner served as senior vice president and chief compliance officer at HealthStream, a provider of learning and research solutions for the healthcare industry.

He also worked in Zimmer for 12 years supporting progressive sales and marketing roles.

Encision chairman Roger Odell said their board believes that he has the experience and skills to lead their company and expand the adoption and use of Encision’s active electrode monitoring (AEM) laparoscopic instruments by healthcare professionals.
