Embrella Cardiovascular, Inc. (Embrella) has appointed Jeffrey F. O’Donnell to the positions of chairman and chief executive officer (CEO). Most recently, O’Donnell served as the president and CEO of PhotoMedex from 1999 to 2009. He brings exceptional operational experience as well as extensive experience in the healthcare industry, merging a solid, traditional corporate background with emerging growth experience to Embrella.

O’Donnell previously served as President and CEO from 1997 to 1999 for Radiance Medical Systems (originally Cardiovascular Dynamics). From 1994 to 1995, O’Donnell held the position of president and CEO of Kensey Nash Corporation. In 2005, O’Donnell was named LifeScience CEO of the year by the Eastern Technology Council. Additionally, he has held several senior sales and marketing management positions at Boston Scientific Corporation, Guidant Corporation and Johnson & Johnson’s Orthopedic Division. O’Donnell is currently an outside board member of Endologix, Inc., Replication Medical, Inc., and is on the medical advisory board of Safeguard Scientific. He is also a Venture Partner of BioStar Ventures.

Embrella is engaged to creating a new standard-of-care for cerebral embolic protection during cardiovascular procedures.
