Ellman International, a New York-based developer, manufacturer and marketer of RF devices for surgical and aesthetic procedures, has appointed Frank Amelio as chief operating officer (COO) and executive vice president (EVP).

According to Ellman, Amelio brings executive experience in the areas of worldwide business development, manufacturing and operations, and the strategic research and development portfolio management.

Most recently, he served as the president of LTC Technologies, a bipolar tissue sealing and welding company and was the former chief technology officer of Gyrus/ACMI, a global medical visualisation and surgical energy company.

At Gyrus Amelio had developed and launched numerous endoscopic and electrosurgical systems for the GI, general surgery, urology and gynecology markets and formed a number of significant strategic alliances with other medical device companies.

Ellman chief executive officer Rick Epstein said that they are proud to welcome Amelio, a senior medical device professional who will help guide the company’s continued growth.

“Frank’s extensive experience in developing strong global strategic alliances will be invaluable as we seek new breakthrough technologies to reinforce our versatility in surgical and non-surgical aesthetic systems,” Epstein said.

Amelio said that Ellman International and Pelleve are well positioned and offer a great platform for both internal development of new leading edge products and properly structured strategic alliances and he look forward to working with the marketing, sales and financial teams at Ellman to bring these products and services to the market.
