Sweden-based human care company Elekta has received CE mark approval for the latest Monaco v5.10 treatment planning system.

The Monaco v5.10 is an advanced radiation therapy planning solution, which supports major treatment techniques such as 3D planning, IMRT, VMAT and stereotactic planning.

Elekta Software senior vice-president Richard Stark said: "Monaco v5.10 is designed to simplify the creation of multiple, complex treatment plans from 3D to stereotactic plans.

"The new features will help drive faster workflow and support clinical decisions required to make an informed choice about the most appropriate treatment."

The new version will allow European clinicians to optimize plan creation with customizable templates that can be shared across institutions and plan multiple patients simultaneously.

It will also allow to create multiple prescriptions within a single active plan and achieve better dose conformity with modern optimization tools.

The company will showcase the system at the third ESTRO Forum in Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona, which will be held from 24 to 28 April.

Elekta develops and markets tools and treatment planning systems for radiation therapy, radiosurgery and brachytherapy.
