US-based digital health technology firm Eko Health has unveiled its new-generation digital stethoscope, CORE 500, designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy and early disease detection.

CORE 500 combines AI software, high-fidelity audio experience, full-colour display, and 3-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) to deliver a key tool for healthcare professionals (HCPs).

The digital stethoscope is designed for use across clinical specialities, including structural heart, primary care, urgent care, emergency medicine, home care, and virtual care.

It comes with a familiar design and intuitive workflow of conventional stethoscopes and is made from lightweight shatter-, splash-, and scratch-resistant material.

Also, CORE 500 features a fast-charging lithium-ion battery, optimised for multiple shifts and lasts up to 60 hours of regular clinical use on a single charge.

It is the first stethoscope to provide accurate, instantaneous patient auscultation data on a full-colour display, including heart rate and ECG tracing, said the company.

Eko Health co-founder and CEO Connor Landgraf said: “We’ve spent countless hours designing, testing, and refining to produce a flagship product that we’re very proud of and has high clinical value – the CORE 500 is the result.

“The CORE 500 represents a major leap forward in digital stethoscope technology. When paired with our powerful AI algorithms, it can help detect leading indicators of heart disease in seconds, greatly assisting healthcare professionals in identifying various cardiac conditions with increased accuracy and confidence.”

The CORE 500 is designed with up to 40x sound amplification, active noise cancellation, three audio filter modes, and features TrueSound, the company’s latest audio innovation.

TrueSound incorporates an in-ear speaker technology to enable optimal sound filtering and reduce background noise to provide the most precise sound during every patient exam.

CORE 500 can be compatible with Eko Health’s SENSORA Cardiac Disease Detection Platform, which enhances the detection of cardiac murmurs, indicative of structural heart disease.

It can also be easily integrated with Eko Live Stream for synchronous listening which allows the virtual teams to record, analyse, and share auscultation data in real-time.

When used together with Eko Health’s FDA-approved AI products, the stethoscope will help spot several abnormalities, including AFib, bradycardia, and tachycardia, said Eko Health.
