DMC Harper University Hospital has utilized the new Nico Myriad in Michigan to remove brain tumor located in the depths and are hard to reach.

The Myriad is an automated, non-heat producing surgical device which uses either open or endoscopic surgical techniques to remove tumor tissue.

TheMyriad varies in sizes from 0.9mm to 3mm in diameter and has an opening at the tip on its side, moving at 1400 cycles per second.

DMC Harper University Hospital Neurosurgery chief and Wayne State University School of Medicine Neurosurgery professor Murali Guthikonda said the device is expected to make a difference in treating patients with brain hemorrhages allowing them to achieve better outcomes with their patients and improve their quality of life.
