DHL Supply Chain has obtained a medical device manufacturing license from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for its Tokyo Logistics Centre in Yashio, Shinagawa, Japan.

In the center, DHL has developed a new temperature controlled area for medical device manufacturers.

Under the licence, DHL can perform certain basic manufacturing processes on medical devices as well as storing and delivering the items.

It will also focus on the packaging of products into boxes as well as applying legally-required labels on the items.

DHL said through this development customers will no longer need to inspect inventory at their plants and in storage prior to distribution, allowing for a streamlining of their inventory management systems.

DHL Supply Chain president Shuichi Kawamura told postandparcel.info that they will provide the best logistics solution to healthcare companies and support the enhancement of their customers’ competitiveness.
