DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. (DePuy Orthopaedics), a division of Johnson & Johnson, has announced plans to stop manufacturing operations at a facility in Leeds, England, the Mass Device reported. The move comes after sales declines for some of its older hip replacement products. The company said it will phase out manufacturing at the plant by the end of 2010. The move would affect about 280 jobs in operations, quality and support functions at the Leeds facility.

The company is discontinuing an older line of hip replacement and resurfacing products made in Leeds and transferred the production of other products to DePuy Orthopaedics’s site in Cork, Ireland.
