Crosstrees Medical has recieved a patent from the US Copyright and Patent Office for its Pod technology.

The Pod technology addresses the need for improved vertebral fracture repair devices and reduces the risk of complications in vertebral augmentation procedures, such as nerve root compression, pulmonary embolism and arterial embolism.

Devices using Crosstrees Pod technology feature a polymer material constructed to control the delivery of PMMA bone cement to the fracture site.

Following PMMA delivery, the polymer construct is opened and removed from the vertebra, leaving only the filler material providing fracture fixation, pain relief, and stability.

Crosstrees Medical president and CEO Robert Scribner said the Pod System offers performance benefits and improves surgical outcomes for patients with vertebral fractures.
