Crospon has expanded EndoFLIP range product portfolio with the launch of EF-620 imaging catheter, which is designed to assist surgeons during sleeve gastrectomy and gastric imbrication procedures.

Crospon has received the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) clearance for EF-620 imaging catheter earlier this year.

The new imaging catheter, developed with the support from a Wellcome Trust Strategic Translation Award, helps in the measurement of sleeves created during bariatric surgery.

Crospon CEO John O’Dea said the launch represents a new application for EndoFLIP in the bariatric surgery market, one which complements the gastric band application for which the BF-325 catheter was launched last year.

"Sleeve Gastrectomy is one of the fastest growing bariatric surgery procedures, and the EF-620 catheter is specifically purposed for these procedures. We are particularly excited about the application of the EF-620 for the emerging ‘gastric imbrication’ (or ‘gastric plication’) sleeve procedure," O’Dea said.

The EndoFLIP product, which received FDA clearance in December 2009, allows a bariatric surgeon to measure and set a consistent gastric band stoma size during surgery.
