US-based EyeQue has secured $11.2m funding, which will help the firm in expanding at-home vision testing to the people across the globe.

The company has raised the series B financing from existing investors to be used for the elimination of extraneous trips to the optometrist and make at-home vision testing a reality for people.
EyeQue’s patented technology enables people to test their vision, check if they require vision correction and use the results to order eyeglasses online.
EyeQue said the series B investment takes the total equity raised to date to $16.2m.
EyeQue co-founder and CEO Tibor Laczay said: “At-home vision testing has the potential to dramatically improve the well-being of millions of people worldwide.
“Over 2.5 billion people across the globe need glasses and don’t have them – whether they don’t have access to solutions, can’t afford them, or may not even realize their vision is impaired due to lack of healthcare services.”
The company has developed two intelligent consumer vision solutions, including the Insight and the Personal Vision Tracker.
EyeQue Insight is a visual acuity screener that screens vision for 20/20 to 20/400 in around a minute, offering accurate measures of single and dual eye performance
It will also help to create a digital vision history and test the accuracy of current glasses or contacts.
The Insight will also immediately records and securely stores results, and it can be shared with many people to help testing large groups.
EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker is an in-home and fully mobile refraction error test, which measures nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
The patented EyeQue Cloud technology is said to immediately processes results and return spherical, cylindrical and axis figures
EyeQue co-founder and CTO Dr John Serri said: “We’ve challenged people to think differently about vision care and to take an active role in their eye health by introducing the world’s first smartphone enabled at-home vision tests.”
