Colorcon, a developer of formulated products for the pharmaceutical industries, has launched new pharmaceutical film coating systems.

The new system including Opadry CA osmotic coating system is a one-step, semi-permeable membrane, designed to ensure consistent release from osmotic pump tablets.

The other system includes Opamix, a pre-formulated additive blend, which is developed in collaboration with the BASF for use with Kollicoat Smartseal 30 D to mask unpleasant tastes of solid forms including tablets, granules or smaller particles.

Colorcon film coatings general manager Kamlesh Oza said, "Colorcon is excited to expand its scientifically validated pharmaceutical formulation coating system offerings and to continue its leadership role in bringing technological advancements to pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide."

The company said the new coating systems will be highlighted at CPhI Worldwide being held at Madrid from 9-11 October 2012 and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists’ (AAPS) annual meeting and exposition being held in Chicago, US, from 14-18 October 2012.
