ClearCount Medical Solutions, a provider of patient safety solutions, has introduced SmartSponge Flex.
The SmartSponge Flex utilizes the company’s radio frequency identification (RFID) technology which provides closed-loop reconciliation of the sponge count.
The SmartSponge Flex automatically reconciles the sponge count throughout the procedure, without bar code reading or sponge handling.
ClearCount chief executive officer David Palmer said the SmartSponge Flex is built upon the company’s technology with an improved design which fits into existing OR protocols.
The company said it will be exhibiting its SmartSponge Flex at the 59th Aorn Congress 2012 in New Orleans, Louisiana, US from 24-29 March 2012.
