Civco Medical Solutions has acquired PCI Medical, which provides disinfection products for ultrasound transducers.

The acquisition adds a portfolio of hardware and consumables, helping Civco to expand its presence in the ultrasound transducer reprocessing market.

PCI’s transducer high-level disinfection and storage device portfolio is said to compliment the Civco’s ultrasound infection control transducer covers, needle guidance systems and interventional procedure kits.

The multi-modality imaging (MMI) business unit of Civco is a distributor of PCI storage racks and soaking systems in the US, since last ten years.

Civo president Charles Klasson said: "We are excited to expand our portfolio to include the ASTRA and GUS product lines for infection control management.

"This offering fits well with our current call points in radiology, men’s and women’s health and infection control departments, and will help Civco to expand our presence in the USA."

The new FDA-approved Astra devices help Civco to enter into cardiology and men’s and women’s health segments.

The Astra TEE is designed for automatic high-level disinfection of transesophageal ultrasound probes, while Astra VR is designed for automated high-level disinfection of transvaginal and transrectal probes.

Civco’s MMI unit is engaged in designing and manufacturing accessories for use in diagnostic and therapeutic imaging, as well as interventional procedures.

Its products range from ultrasound and CT covers to device guidance, positioning and electromagnetic needle tracking systems.
