Medical device firm Circa Scientific has signed a three-year agreement with Mid-Atlantic Group Network of Shared Services Cooperative (Magnet Group) for S-Cath esophageal temperature probe.

Under the deal, Circa will provide its S-CATH esophageal temperature probe to the participating healthcare facilities of the Magnet Group.

Circa Scientific president and CEO Lee Geist said: "Circa is happy to be a part of the MAGNET Group network and to furnish their Participating Healthcare Facilities with CIRCA’s advanced esophageal temperature monitoring products to address their monitoring needs when accuracy and speed to are critical to clinical decisions."

The S-CATH Hot & Cold esophageal temperature monitoring system is said to provide effective esophageal temperature monitoring with multi-point temperature sensing.

The system includes 12 fast-response temperature sensors on a soft, flexible and self-expanding probe, which adjusts according to the shape of the esophagus and provides maximum esophageal coverage.

According to Circa Scientific, the studies showed that the S-CATH provides temperature information more quickly compared to conventional temperature probes.

Magnet Group vice-president and COO Steven Duke said: "Magnet Group is proud to partner with Circa to offer the S-CATH Esophageal Temperature Probe and System to our participating healthcare facilities.

"Our customers include many different kinds of healthcare facilities with differing needs. CIRCA’s products provide a key advantage to those performing advanced interventional electrophysiology procedures."

Established in 1979, Magnet Group provides group purchasing opportunities for around 600 acute care facilities.
