Devon Medical Products has gained State Food & Drug Administration (SFDA) approval for its ViewSite Brain Access System (VBAS) to commercialise the neurosurgical device in the People's Republic of China.
The VBAS, developed by Vycor Medical, is a brain access and retraction device that facilitates higher precision for surgeons to target tumors and hemorrhages in a minimally invasive manner.
The neurosurgical device helps physicians to reposition the retractor fewer times during surgery, improving accuracy, trauma, and recovery for patients.
Devon Medical Products president and CEO John Bennett said the SFDA approval will benefit surgeons and patients from the VBAS device in China.
"Our goal is to help sell US-made medical devices to the rest of the world to both support the US economy but also improve quality of care where needed in other countries,” Bennett added.
