Carestream Health has acquired Genesis Digital Imaging, a US distributor of diagnostic imaging systems, and integrated the company with its medical business.

Carestream’s direct sales force is involved in offering support to large hospital customers by providing new digital radiography systems and healthcare IT solutions, and its Quantum Medical Imaging organization serves customers in the mid tier hospital, orthopedic and imaging center segments.

Genesis, which integrates Carestream’s Vita computed radiography system with its imaging software, distributes the system to US dealers.

Carestream digital medical solutions business president Diana Nole said, "Genesis has an outstanding reputation in serving dealers and exceeding customer expectations."

The acquisition will enable Carestream to expand its customer base by leveraging the expertise Genesis has in serving US dealers, that primarily call on the value tier market and specialty medical practices.

In addition, Genesis’ president, Scott Evers, will assume various new roles as president of Genesis Digital Imaging, a division of Carestream, and vice president, U.S. & Canada Value Tier Channels.

Genesis’ president, Scott Evers said, "With our laser focus on dealers that serve the value tier market, combined with Carestream’s Quantum products and distribution network and the company’s direct sales force in the hospital space, we now have a complete team of Carestream sales experts to serve customers from the smallest private practice up to the largest academic hospitals."
