The meeting will be held for three days at the San Diego Convention Center from August 12 to 14.

The teleretinal solution will feature Canon’s CR-2 PLUS AF Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal camera and image SPECTRUM Image Management System software.

The CR-2 PLUS AF Camera captures ultra-high resolution images – quickly, efficiently and automatically. It uses Canon’s advanced EOS optics and CMOS image-capture technology and the CR-2 PLUS AF features an 18 megapixel digital camera.

Users can switch between auto and manual focusing for total control, with the press of a button. The system is equipped with Auto Capture Function, which will hint the user about the right moment to capture an image. This is done by analysing the ideal state for exposure and alignment.

The software offers image management and portability. Canon claims that it can improve workflow and will be sold separately.

The imageSPECTRUM image Management software will help healthcare professionals in performing retinal screenings, which can be quickly sent transmitted across thousands of miles away, and will be used in diagnosis.

The software also features digital RGB filters for critical viewing of suspected pathologies. Canon claims that the camera itself has a non-invasive Fundus Autofluorescence imaging mode, where the reviewer can quickly assess the condition of the Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) layer.

The latest version of the software can let healthcare professionals use the new opacity suppression selectable filter tool to subdue the effect of ocular opacities in an image and to correct blur and enhance clarity of blood vessels and thereby identify potential ailments that may have been unnoticed.
