Ophthalmic medical device manufacturer BVI has invested in Elbit Systems’ medical technology subsidiary Beyeonics Vision.
The integrated augmented reality, tracking, and image processing/AI platforms are used by Beyeonics Vision to offer enhanced visualisation, optimised workflow, and real-time support to the surgeon decision-making process in the operating room.
The collaboration is also expected to bolster a streamlined process for the commercialisation of Beyeonics One ophthalmic digital imaging system in the US.
Beyeonics Vision is involved in the development of Beyeonics One, which is claimed to be the first and only commercial ophthalmic digital imaging system that can replace optical analogue microscopes.
Beyeonics One is an open and upgradable digital visualisation platform, which features an ultra-high-resolution camera that can process and transfer digitally enhanced images to a high-resolution head-wearable display for an immersive and natural stereoscopic 3-D viewing experience.
The digital imaging system offers enhanced automation, programming autonomy and more freedom for surgeons to set up the operating room and adopt an ergonomically efficient posture.
With customisable integration of accessible pre-/intra-operative data and seamless integration with other devices, the digital imaging system also facilitates the real-time decision-making process.
