BSD Medical updates on tumor ablation system

BSD Medical, a developer, manufacturer of systems to treat cancer using heat therapy, has reported positive evaluation results from the efforts of MicroThermX Microwave Ablation line of products' sales and distribution network.

The MicroThermX is a mobile system that includes a microwave generator, single-patient-use disposable antennas and a thermistor-based temperature monitoring system.

The MicroThermX uses synchronous phased array technology to provide uniform zones of ablation during a single procedure.

The company said the medical facilities where BSD initially placed MicroThermX systems continue to reorder disposable microwave antennas, providing early validation.

BSD Sales and Marketing vice president Steve Smith said the increase in the request for clinical evaluations of the MicroThermX by hospitals indicates that they are experiencing success from the rollout of their sales and marketing strategy.

BSD has received CE marking for the MicroThermX System.
