BSD Medical, a manufacturer of services systems to treat cancer using heat therapy, has launched a new tabletop MicroThermX Microwave ablation system.

The new MicroThermX system features an intuitive touchscreen monitor and is designed specifically for the company’s new fee-per-use rental program.

The rental program allows hospitals to buy disposable antennas and pay a fee-per-use rental for the treatment of patients using the MicroThermX.

BSD president and CEO Harold Wolcott said the company has expanded its sales programs for the MicroThermX and are developing new products to ensure success with the fee-per-use rental program.

"The financial environment for capital equipment in the U.S. is changing and hospitals increasingly prefer to pay rental fees for equipment," Wolcott added.

"We are encouraged by the interest in BSD’s new products and the ongoing positive clinical results from patient treatments with the MicroThermX."
