The purchase forms part of Bryan’s strategy to streamline workflow and enhance patient care at its hospital and two outpatient imaging centers.

Bryan Medical Center radiology director Sharon Harms said the center selected Carestream’s DRX detector and software because of its ease of use, image quality and advanced features like enhanced visualization of tubes and lines.

"It also offers remote reporting, which is an important capability for our managers," Harms added.

"Our physicians will gain instant image access from our existing portable systems in our ED and surgical suites, which can help enhance patient care.

"Having direct image access in our exam rooms will enable technologists to complete the X-ray exam without leaving the patient, which enables greater patient safety and satisfaction while enhancing our productivity."

In addition, Bryan plans to install several additional DR systems in 2013.
