US-based BiologicTx has announced the recent acquisition of Silverstone Solutions and its Kidney Paired Donation software, Silverstone Matchgrid, as part of BiologicTx’s continuing expansion.

Silverstone Matchgrid is a sophisticated proprietary software application that assists clinicians in accurately matching individuals awaiting kidney transplants with viable living kidney donors who are incompatible with their intended recipients.

In addition to acquiring Silverstone Solutions, BiologicTx has announced the appointment of Silverstone Solutions founder David S Jacobs as chief technology officer of BiologicTx.

With more than 30 years of experience in high-tech software innovation, including Microsoft’s early stages of development, Marimba (now BMC Software), and Macromedia (now Adobe), Jacobs will be charged with setting the BiologicTx technology agenda, driving key development, and initiating new business expansion opportunities.

Jacobs said BiologicTx is uniquely positioned to expand the utilization of Matchgrid, giving thousands of patients facing ESRD better options for living donor transplants.

"I’m excited by the opportunity to improve and expand BiologicTx technology solutions for all transplant patients.

"It is an exceptionally rare opportunity for two industries to join forces to save lives. The software technology and treatment behind this advancement in the transplant community didn’t exist ten years ago," Jacobs added.

BiologicTx co-founder and CEO Sal Rafanelli noted at BiologicTx, the company’s focus has always been to provide a better quality of life to its patients.

"By combining resources, BiologicTx and Silverstone solutions will be able to integrate our therapy interventions with this life saving technology, providing more options for those suffering from kidney disease," Rafanelli added.
