BD Diagnostics, a segment of Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), has purchased Netherlands-based Kiestra Lab Automation.
The acquisition will enable the BD Diagnostics to expand its microbiology portfolio including new automated instrumentation technologies, reagents and supplies.
Kiestra said its solutions automate manual and time-consuming tasks within the microbiology laboratory and increase productivity and deliver high-quality results.
BD Diagnostics Diagnostic Systems vice president and GM Jamie Condie said the combination of BD’s broad portfolio of microbiology platforms, reagents and supplies with Kiestra’s automated instrumentation technologies will enable them to offer a more comprehensive microbiology lab solution to hospitals and laboratories.
Kiestra Microbiology Laboratory Automation vice president Jetze Botma said they look forward to join the BD team to expand automation across the entire microbiology and infectious disease testing process.
