Health care company Baxter International and nonprofit organization Mayo Clinic have partnered to establish a new renal care center of excellence in the US.

The collaboration combines the clinical expertise of Mayo Clinic and Baxter Renal Care Services.
The center, which will be established at Mayo Clinic Dialysis Center at the campus in Jacksonville, Florida, will serve patients across the continuum of renal care, from chronic kidney disease (CKD) management through transplant.
The center will also drive better patient outcomes. Under the partnership, the clinical service model and CKD management program Baxter Renal Care Services will be integrated with Mayo Clinic’s recognized excellence in care.
The collaboration will also enable for the trial of potentially new, co-developed products and services.

The Mayo Clinic Dialysis Center offers chronic kidney disease clinic, where a team of providers will work together to offer comprehensive care to people with kidney disorders.
The center will also provide home dialysis training and support for both home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, in-center hemodialysis, outpatient dialysis services.
It will also offer Nephrology Nutrition Clinic, where dieticians with expertise in kidney disorders will offer ongoing guidance for nutritional needs
Furthermore, temporary dialysis will also be provided for patients who need treatment while traveling.
Baxter Renal Care business general manager Laura Angelini said: “We firmly believe there is a path to better care for kidney patients, which starts by managing the disease before dialysis is required and through simpler, more effective innovations. Our collaboration with Mayo Clinic will allow us to go even further in helping to establish transformative care.”
The dialysis clinic collaboration is claimed to be the first initiative to be launched from the Baxter and Mayo Clinic’s five-year agreement signed last year.
The primary emphasis of the agreement was to focus on new research and development projects to advance innovation across different therapeutic areas where there are high unmet patient needs.
