US-based healthcare technology company Babson Diagnostics has teamed up with Cynergy Wellness, a provider of nationwide physician services for workplace and consumer screening.
Under the partnership, Cynergy will provide clinician oversight services for Babson Diagnostics’ BetterWay blood testing orders initiated by customers.
BetterWay needs a small volume of blood, the size of a peanut, collected from a fingertip to produce medically accurate results, and does not require a phlebotomist to collect blood.
The blood testing service menu covers the most frequently ordered general health, wellness, and screening tests.
Babson will partner with retailers to expand the blood testing service to pharmacies and other convenient retail locations.
Babson Diagnostics chief executive officer David Stein said: “We are thrilled to partner with Cynergy Wellness as we launch BetterWay.
Our goal is to make blood testing accessible and easy, and that starts with making it available to those consumers who have a personal need for testing, in addition to clinical practices.”
Cynergy will provide services including state-required prior authorisation for customer-initiated orders, and test reviews to ensure tests are clinically appropriate for a customer.
The company will also evaluate test results to screen for test abnormalities or critical values and provide clinical guidance in a follow-up consultation with the patient when necessary.
Cynergy provides Medical Review Officer expertise to help safeguard the integrity of the testing process and verify legitimate medical explanations.
The company will ensure test accuracy and adherence to established safety policies and facilitate timely test results while protecting the confidentiality of the testing information.
Cynergy CEO Angela Moore said: “We are proud to work with Babson Diagnostics in the launch of BetterWay blood testing. Broader access to blood tests leads to more individualized engagement in health and well-being.
When we deliver innovative testing solutions like BetterWay to a consumer, a workplace, or a geographic population, we improve their health and their overall utilization of healthcare resources.”
