UnitingCare Health, one of the largest providers of health and community services in Australia, announces successful signing with Ascom for the provision of a Workstation on Wheels (WoW) solution for St Stephens Hospital in Queensland.

The roll-out of the Workstation on Wheels (WoW) solution aims to provide a fully integrated nursing station that optimizes the patient care process by enabling mobile point-of-care.

Ascom was selected to provide the solution based on the technical and ergonomic advantages provided by the Advantech AMiS-50 WoW’s together with the integrated MedProx cabinets from Elliott Data.

"The fact that UnitingCare Health chose Ascom as supplier for their mobile solution proves the clinical and operational value of the recently introduced Advantech AMiS-50 WoWs. This is an important milestone for us on the Australian market, we are also delighted by the ease of integration with the Elliott Data Systems MedProx dispensary cabinets which the Hospital deemed as vital in their care model," says Feargal O’Farrell, Sales & Marketing Director.

As Australia’s first fully digital integrated hospital, St Stephens recognize that with the additions of WoW’s the communication will be more streamlined and help put patients at the center of care.

"Our nurses and anesthetists selected the Ascom WoW solution for its functionality and pleasing aesthetics. Its large touch screen, practical medication drawers, motorized elevation and long battery life together with an easy to clean design and ease to maneuver distinguishes Advantech AMiS-50 from the competition. The Ascom solution provides capability that will meet our hospital requirements and complement our working environment," says Maryanne Cook, Project Manager eHealth Solutions at UnitingCare Health.

The final solution included 45 (forty-five) Advantech AMiS-50 WoWs which feature:

Integrated Medprox medication dispensing cabinets to help enhance critical clinical systems such as bedside documentation and beside medication administration.

Neat cable routing to avoid snagging and for easy cleaning and management

Fanless operation for improved infection control

Larger wheels to decrease the amount of force needed to operate which enables easier movement on all floor types.
