The outpatient EHR is expected to integrate with Arnot Ogden Medical Center’s QuadraMed CPR (QCPR) acute inpatient system, giving physicians quick access to patient information across multiple care settings. The integrated EHR solution will also help Arnot Ogden and Arnot Medical Services meet American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) “meaningful use” and interoperability certification criteria.

Reportedly, the tertiary care facility, Arnot Ogden Medical Center and its affiliated medical services group chose e-MDs because of its rich functionality, usability and integration with QCPR, the inpatient EHR solution that Arnot Ogden has utilized for the past ten years.

The rollout of the e-MDs EHR to Arnot Medical Services’ 150 physicians within their 30 ambulatory care practices is slated to begin in the fall and be completed by next summer, allowing ample time for Arnot Medical Services to demonstrate meaningful use.

Gregg Martin, CIO of Arnot Ogden Medical Center, said: “We wanted our physicians to have an outpatient EHR that would be interoperable with QuadraMed’s inpatient record technology.

“An integrated EHR will improve the collaboration between our physicians and staff, which we expect to enhance patient care and help improve our financial health. To reach our goal of delivering optimal care, we must share data seamlessly as patient’s transition from one clinical environment to another.”

Robert Lambert, president of Arnot Medical Services, said: “Arnot Health invested in e-MDs because its practice-based physicians endorsed the solution through a multi-vendor review process, and also due to the expected integration with Arnot Ogden’s acute care system from QuadraMed.

“In addition, the institution plans to use its patient portal to facilitate online communication with patients. The e-MDs CCHIT-certified EHR solution has earned top scores in independent evaluations by the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.”

Michael Stearns, president and CEO of e-MDs, said: “Our collaboration with QuadraMed breaks down the barriers to a free flow of information across the inpatient/outpatient boundary. The quality and safety of patient care depends on community-based physicians having immediate access to hospital patient encounters and their discharge medications. This interconnectivity also supports clinicians in ensuring that patients’ receive consistently high-quality care.”

Duncan James, CEO of QuadraMed, said: “QuadraMed’s partnership with ambulatory EHR leader e-MDs will enable Arnot Ogden Medical Center to capture and share critical data throughout the continuum of care. We are honored to be a part of Arnot Ogden’s integrated solution to better serve their patient community, while helping them to attain the maximum ARRA incentives.”
