Apollo Endosurgery has reported that its newly-launched OverStitch Endoscopic Suturing System has been employed in several, first-in-human cases.

OverStitch Endoscopic Suturing System is a device that mimics the way physicians deploy sutures by hand and provides full-thickness endoscopic suturing on a flexible platform, delivering surgical standard of care through the flexible endoscope, Apollo Endosurgery.

The company said that the OverStitch system was was deployed endoscopically to facilitate the closure of the fistula.

Apollo Endosurgery Sales and Marketing vice president Lee Putman said that they are excited to see their products providing clinicians the ability to offer less invasive endoscopic surgical treatment options.

“The OverStitch product provides Apollo an excellent opportunity to advance the potential of flexible surgery, while improving patient outcomes and lives,” Putman said.
