American Shared Hospital Services (AMS), a provider of turnkey technology solutions for advanced radiosurgical and radiation therapy services, has supplied its Gamma Knife Perfexion system to Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque to treat cancer patients.

Gamma Knife Radiosurgery equipment is a non-invasive treatment for malignant and benign brain tumors, vascular malformations and trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain).

According to its manufacturer, Elekta, Gamma Knife Perfexion reduces unwanted body dose to the patient by up to 100 times compared with competing technologies.

AMS also offers the IGRT, IMRT systems and proton beam radiation therapy (PBRT) in radiation oncology.

Lovelace Medical Center CEO David Nevill said Gamma Knife Perfexion, a stereotactic radiosurgery system, expands the therapeutic potential for radiosurgery procedures in the brain, cervical spine and head and neck regions.

Lovelace Health System is comprised of a network of three acute-care hospitals that include Lovelace Medical Center, Lovelace Women’s Hospital and Lovelace Westside Hospital, a rehabilitation hospital.

Lovelace Health System offers a health plan to a health care providers and specialists across New Mexico, S.E.D. Medical Labs, and 11 retail pharmacy locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe.
