Amedica Corporation (Amedica) has appointed Ben Shappley as president and chief executive officer (CEO). Shappley will also serve on the company's board of directors. Shappley has more than 25 years of orthopaedic and neurosurgical implant experience in both management and senior management roles. Most recently, he served as CEO and president of SpineMatrix.

Prior to SpineMatrix, he was president of Theken Spine. Shappley has served in senior management positions in various companies including Therics Corporation. Shappley is a founding and charter member of the Institute for Orthopaedic Enlightenment and is a listed inventor on seven orthopaedic implant patents. Shappley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
