To offer medical device clients a broad range of services, experimental models and surgical capabilities

Absorption Systems has introduced a renovated surgical suite for preclinical medical device testing at the company’s facility in San Diego, CA.

The company’s AAALAC accredited, GLP-compliant facility is equipped to offer medical device clients a broad range of services, experimental models and surgical capabilities.

The company said that new, 1,100 square foot surgical suite includes a C-arm high-resolution digital fluoroscopy imaging system, new surgical tables, anesthesia systems, an observation room and much more.

In-vivo preclinical studies will include testing of orthopedic implants, cardiovascular stents and implants, bone healing, tissue engineering, drug delivery, corneal healing, wound healing and general surgery.

Absorption Systems’ GLP bioanalytical laboratory supports testing of drug-eluting devices.

Patrick Dentinger, president and CEO of Absorption Systems, said: “For years, we’ve been a leader in helping our customers move drugs from the benchtop to the clinic. With our surgical suite, we expand our capability to assist clients in advancing ‘concepts’ into safe and effective medical devices by moving them rapidly toward IDE, 510(k) or PMA regulatory filings.

“We expect that our new facility, coupled with our renowned customer service, will factor into medical device manufacturers’ decisions when selecting Absorption Systems for testing.”
