Abaxis, a manufacturer of point-of-care blood analysis systems, has executed a new 10-year supplier contract with BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) effective immediately replacing the expiring 5-year agreement at an approximate value of $30m.
Under the agreement Abaxis supplies dry reagents using the company’s patented TECHNOLOGY-Orbos Discrete Lyophilization Process (the Orbos Process) to BD.
One of the Orbos Process aspect allows the production of a precise amount of active chemical ingredient in the form of a soluble bead.
The aspect has broad applications in products where delivery of active ingredients in a stable, pre-metered format is desired.
