Digital imaging products manufacturer 3DISC Imaging has introduced a computed radiography system to provide high-quality reading of reusable dental imaging plates.

The system, FireCR Dental Reader, features a color touch-screen LCD panel and uses reusable bite-wing and intraoral imaging plates such as a true size 4c imaging plate.

In addition, the system includes an automated, magnetized feeding tray which offers ‘push and go’ functionality, thus making it simple to operate for technicians.

3DISC Europe CEO Thomas Weldingh said the FireCR Dental Reader also features other automated processes that are key to efficient workflow.

"Unique features include integrated UV sterilization and erase functions — the system sterilizes, scans, and clears the imaging plates so that they are immediately ready to use again," Weldingh added.

"3DISC’s QuantorDent Imaging Software optimizes image acquisition, processing, and management."

3DISC Americas CEO Sigrid Smitt-Jeppesen said the new dental reader provides all of the features needed to help dental practices achieve the workflow and patient care benefits of digital imaging while optimizing chairside time with patients.

The company said it is launching the FireCR Dental Reader at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting which is being held in Chicago, US from 25-30 November 2012.
