Smith & Nephew has appointed Stephane Thiroloix as president for its Europe - based Advanced Surgical Devices (ASD) division.

Stephane will be responsible for directing all commercial activities in ASD’s European markets which is focused on the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine product portfolios.

Previously, he served as a executive vice-president (VP) of corporate development at Ipsen in France.

He held various executive positions in France, South Africa, Mexico and Australia, ultimately as General Manager at Sanofi.

He served as VP and sales director of French Operations at SmithKline Beecham and then moved on to become VP and director of Operations, and ultimately VP of European Business Development and Marketing Alliances within GlaxoSmithKline.

In 2002, he joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as VP of French Operations and was promoted to VP Europe and General Manager France in 2004.

ASD president Mike Frazzette said his operational experience and commercial and customer-focused approach will enable Smith & Nephew to better serve the needs of their diverse customer base and develop competitive advantages for our business.
