In gastroenterology, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and the associated organs, pancreas, gall bladder and liver, as well as their diagnoses and therapy are considered and treated. The diagnostics are mainly carried out using endoscopes (e.g. gastrointestinal endoscopy), with ultrasonic instruments (sonography) and with pressure catheters (manometry) for the diagnosis of dysfunctions (manometry).
