ZOLL Medical Corporation (ZOLL Medical) has been awarded a modification contract from the US Veterans Administration (VA) that adds the company’s Intravascular Temperature Management (IVTM) systems to the Federal Supply Schedule (FSS). Under the terms of the five-year agreement, VA hospitals and all branches of military hospitals can order ZOLL’s IVTM against this contract, making the procurement of equipment easier without the need to go out for bid.

The company claims that, Currently the ZOLL technology is the exclusive intravascular temperature management solution available on the FSS contract.

“We are pleased that ZOLL has been selected, once again, to provide equipment on a continuing basis to our government’s medical facilities to help improve critical patient care for our veterans and service people,” said Richard A. Packer, Chairman and CEO of ZOLL.

ZOLL’s IVTM solutions provide the power and control to rapidly, safely, and effectively manage the core body temperature of critically ill or surgical patients for a variety of indications. Both the ZOLL CoolGard and Thermogard XP systems precisely control the patient’s temperature by accurately adjusting the internal temperature of the IVTM balloon catheter that is positioned within the patient’s blood vessel. ZOLL’s extensive family of IVTM catheters are used to cool and warm patients depending upon the clinical need.
