Ventus Medical has obtained European CE mark for Provent Therapy, a disposable device indicated for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
The Provent nasal device fits over both the nostrils and uses proprietary MicroValve design which creates pressure to keep the airways open during sleep.
While the individual is exhaling, the airflow is nearly unobstructed, allowing normal breathing, and while inhaling, the MiroValve closes directing the air through small channels and creating resistance.
The resistance creates EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure), which opens the airway during sleep and improves sleep apnea.
