Varian Medical Systems is set to provide its four TrueBeam Radiotherapy Systems to Sweden - based Lund University Hospital, under the contract agreement.

The addition of new TrueBeam devices will replace Hospital’s older linear accelerators and Varian’s ARIA software suite will replace the incumbent software to reduce waiting times.

TrueBeam features a multitude of technical innovations that synchronizes imaging, patient positioning, motion management, and treatment delivery.

It can also deliver very high doses faster than earlier generations of technology with its high intensity mode.

Lund University Hospital lead radiation oncologist Thomas Bjork-Eriksson said they need machines that can deliver very conformal radiotherapy in a fast and safe way, enabling them to offer advanced techniques such as RapidArc volumetric radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery.

"We want to treat more patients more quickly while offering them very advanced treatments," Bjork-Eriksson said.
