The company is also showcasing a new SmartConnect Plus offering to proactively monitor and service its TrueBeam and Edge cancer treatment systems.

Varian brachytherapy product manager Rebecca Park said: "This software release helps to improve workflow, speed up the planning process, and enhance the precision of low-dose-rate brachytherapy planning."

Varian’s new VariSeed software is said to offer faster and flexible brachytherapy planning with improvements in workflow, as well as supports both practitioners new to seed implant techniques and those carrying out complex real-time procedures.

VariSeed also features a new VariPath module, which supports the use of data and images from transperineal ultrasound-guided biopsies. It helps in the planning, tracking and recording of results, with the additional option of fusing these findings with MRI images.

The firm’s SmartConnect Plus offering allows service personnel to proactively diagnose, troubleshoot, and make repairs to these systems in real time.

At the event, the company is also showcasing its RapidPlan and SmartSegmentation software tools for radiotherapy and radiosurgery planning.
